Bechelor Food

Poor me that I have to survive without my mum's cooking and of course dear's as well.

My menu as a bechelor in these few weeks
1. Breakfast - Toast bread, coffee, milk
2. Lunch - Bread from home, banana or apple
3. Dinner - Tesco Instant noodles

Picture is the nicest food I had for myself - chicken pie - but it is mainly frozen food.

UK food is boring and Eastern spices are so expensive here - let's see what Ann can do magic when she is here.

By the way, I lost 2 kg, during the first check-up in NHS health centre - may be it has merit in a way :-P

Raya Eve 19 Sept

Been invited to this Malaysian commnity Buka Puasa event - so many of the Malaysian families here and there were so many children running around.

One eye-opening things was that I got the chance to see their 'worship' openly. You will not get the chance in KL because you will not go into a Mosque to see how the Muslim worship.

Bus

Never say never, I thought i will not take bus again in my life :-)

Coming to Uk and many friends has asked me to buy a car since I have family with me, never see the link myself and now i know why.

Bristol bus service is HORRIBLE!!! NOT RELIABLE AT ALL!!!

Unlike Sheffield, where the bus can be real good service and timely but not here.

My campus is like in the 'foreign' land - like KL to 1Utama distance. Far and isolate. It is not reliable and I have waited for an hour more from its scheduled time. Thought this will only happened in KL, but same here as in developed country.

Thought I will never face traffic jam - but I face it every time I go back at this particular route from my campus.

So, the timetable electronic signboard can be ignored really !! Nuisance !!!

Orientation week 16 - 18 Sept

Not much exciting in my orientation week, it was just a normal event for us to get used to the uni system and some involvement in the uni. As for me, I have been searching high and low for a house for myself and my family to stay in.

I think I have called more than 30 over phones to landlord and agency to source for one. Sadly to say, it is not easy for a student with family to secure one. There was one that I really like - 2 rooms, living room, separate kitchen, new shower rooms, parking lot and small private garden at Hanham Road, Kingswood. I wanted it but the agent asked for a guarantor which I don't have one, else I have to pay upfront 6 months rental !!!! Nearly take it, but somehow I just withheld the decision and called Ann to discuss, of course we have an alternative, which we had taken it now (see entry for the place we stay).

Well, nothing interesting from my orientation week, but some interesting stuff I see in Bristol :)

1. You may think that that is a church - no it is a Hindu Temple.
2. Bus not only can take bike, baby pram and push-chair and animals - big one as you can see - animal rights I guess :-)

Beginning of Page 1

Well, I arrived safely and nicely :-)

MAS was kind enough to upgrade me to C class, not bad that I paid only RM 500+ to get service like this, of course thanks to my previous employment that gave me such benefit.

It is not cold for me as I quite used to the weather there. Luckily friend that I got to know from KL, Shapawi had come to pick me up. I supposed to stay with his friends, but only found out they were having puasa/ fasting month which was very much inconvenient to his friend. So I managed to get another friend, Oliver to take me in.

He is kind enough to let me stay with them till I managed to find a place.

Oliver is doing his Master degree in Fine Art and he brought with him his wife, Wai Mun and daughter Li Xin.

They saty in a nice place call Hotwells and their unit is facing the Avon river and that picture showed a part of happening there during weekends.

I slept in the couch in their living room, no complaint :-) as long as I have my head to lay on

12 Sept 2009

It is a mixed feeling ...

Excited yet worried ...

I guess I just have to embrace what is coming ahead and trusting God will lead the journey...

Bye Malaysia for now and Bristol UK here I will print my footprints on

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Last night, my parents brought me for dinner or rather supper and I guess I surely will miss food like these in UK.
