Malaysian Bristol Group

Yes, there is this Malaysian community formed in Bristol and they have started a yahoo group. I was given the webpage to browse and join.

So after getting the information, I manage to take a look at the group page - their forum and emails around.

Not to my surprise, 99% are Malay and 90% of them are under Government sponsorship. Yes, many of them brought their family too.

My intention is to see whether I could get some support from the group and ask some silly questions so that the experienced one will come to my help and direct me the right path to walk.

To my shocking, as I browsed through their forum, I see some 'issues' going on that were really out of my expectation.

Give you an example: It was a hot issue in Malaysia where the government was still debating whether the science and math subjects should be taught in English or Bahasa.

The responses from the forum surprised me which majority votted for using Bahasa rather than English and worse they commented that using English would demeaning the status of Bahasa Melayu in Malaysia. As Malaysian they should uphold the Bahasa in all kind of effort.

What amused Ann and I that one of the news clip from TV showing them having their 'protest' for the matter and then an interview took place with one gentleman. Guess what language they used during the interview - ENGLISH!! Oh my, and they were fighting to uphold the Bahasa !!!

I really do not know how to response and start questioning whether it is a right decision to be one of the group members....

What would you do when you are 37???

Do I ever notice I am getting old ???

I ask this question myself, you tell me whether I am getting old :-)

Sign 1: There are times I know I have put my keys or documents somewhere and just can't recall where it is. I am lucky as I am not to the stage where I have to check my toothbrush whether it is wet that proves I have done my brushing.

Sign 2: The rail lines at the edge of my eyes are getting more and more obvious, plus those shown on the forehead until dear has asked me not to smile so much :-P

Sign 3: When you only get your sleep after 12 mid night and your day tomorrow is going to be really really suck!!! You start to miss those days you can stay in the pub partying all night. Especially for me who must have 8 hours beauty sleep.

Sign 4: You start to loose sight of your toes (though I am not up to that stage) because of your beer belly - now you start to take concern what you eat and what goes into your mouth.

Sign 5: You hear people start saying you are so wise because you have so many white hair now - that is my case !!! Worst when you start to see your hair line is getting higher and higher, or you start to have a nice ocean middle of your head - luckily I am not this category haha

Sign 6: You start to notice your skin is getting drier and get pigmentation easily, so you know you need those whitening cream, moisturizer, toner, lotions etc.

Sign 7: You start breath in when you see some pretty girl passing by, hold the breath to impress !!

Sign 8: Your start to have muscle pain and etc when you have exercised heavily.. panting to catch breathe

Sign 9: You start to worry that you did not perform in bed to please your wife -

Sign 10: YOU SURE HAVE THIS - denial and denial. You dress young, act young and try to be young - and this is really ME !!!!

Am I getting old - I start to think whether I have mid life crisis now and wonder I made the right choice to study again.

My mum asked me over and over and she is still asking the same question till this minute - Son, My Son you sure you want to pick up studying again??? By the time you finish you study - 4 years later - you already 41 years old, and your adam is already 15.. you sure you can start everything again???

Am I really that old to study again, I start to 'examine' how many signs have I ticked above??

You tell me, ok :0)
